Rapid-Fire Music

Everyday it gets harder to filter out some good music in the midst of all the shit that gets released daily. I swear Johnny Juliano already locked the worst song of 2011 in early April, you have to appreciate the commitment to failure.

Nevertheless, that’s not what you’ll be hearing here. Couple joints that dropped recently :

Berner ft. Big K.R.I.T. & Wiz Khalifa – Yoko – I don’t know nor give a fuck who Berner is, because his verse sucks. Khalifa drops some tolerable rapping [even the fans know, having heard Rolling Papers, that he is capable of some over-the-board insufferable mumbling,] but I’m really posting this to give KRIT’s production skills some shine. If nothing else, both him and the kid Cole hint a future as producers.

DJ Drama ft. Fabolous, Roscoe Dash & Wiz Khalifa – Oh My – Gangsta Grillz 3’s first single. Drumma Boy handling the production. I really don’t care about this song, but as we all know, due to the Drumma + Roscoe combo, you’re gonna be hearing about it. So we might as well … :

Wale ft. Black Cobain – 4AM – This is more like it. And it’s cop-free. Produced by Tone P. Definitely worth checking.

Probably wouldn’t listen to any of those joints Jim Hopper. Just sayin.

  3. Unfortunately none of them is indeed a must-listen, Eng. Call it a slow week.

I don’t think it gets any better if we consider UK releases, though.

Simon upped this shit last night, and I swear, for some off reason, I had this shit on repeat:

I need this on my ipod asap.

  5. ” for some off reason ”

Did u consider the possibility of the video trickin’ ur brain ?

‘Cause that shit kinda psychedelic and whatnot.

^^Ouch. Uncalled for Hopp. But true nonetheless. With all that said. Your mother.

^Honestly, I don’t really pay attention to the screen. I hit play, listen and zone out. The vid look like it had some hippies in it or some shit. The track is dope as helll though.

Sounds like something Dilla woulda made with Miri Ben-Ari.

Like that Miri ben-Ari feat. Scarface-Sunshine To The Rain. It kinda sound like a Ye sample in the middle.

  8. as long as ya’ll don’t take 3 day weekends like nah, gbm is gonna take this shit over

  9. ” Ouch. Uncalled for Hopp. ”

    Fair enough.

U don’t even kno’ how much you’re winning stayin’ away from that Drama song, tho.

  10. @ Jihad, you gave Kush & OJ a 3/10? I hear you on what you said about Wiz lacking lyrical ability, this is true. However, I personally think that mixtape is something you listen to whilst smoking and zoning out. I really don’t think it’s a tape you pay much attention to, it’s something you play in the background, whilst smoking with your peoples, sipping on something expensive and straight up having a laugh.

Well done for listening to it, twice. I know how hard that must have been for you lol

Thanks to whoever made that blu-compilation, made me appreciate dudes music even more.
Dont get me wrong, I like BTH a lot, but i never understood how some people praise it as a classic (im not a big fan of exiles beats, maybe thats the reason)…anyway blu is not only a dope MC but also makes some nice beats, gonna download the Godleebarnes LP right now. Is it true that there is no good quality version of it though?

    Yea.

My thing is, I don’t smoke anymore (or rather, its like once a quarter or so, if that), and I can’t drink, so I don’t have any vices that would cause me to vibe out beyond the music and the words– I guess I’m listening too hard in this instance. Like I said, some of the beats are dope enough to make me want to listen to some songs again, but the words (christ, the words) just have me SMH. I mean, even Too Short had a little wordplay, lol, and his amount of topics and lyrical range are damn near identical, lol.

But yea, when I was in college, or maybe when I was smoking/drinking heavy, i prolli could have dug this (maybe- in college I went thru my fuck the radio Jansport Backpack page, lol), but honestly, I just think his tape would have been better with other rappers rapping over it.

The kid got a future as a hook writer tho.

    Or Amber’s purse carrier.

    Correct.

Apparently that GLB LP was some old recordings he did, but he lost the sessions and the GLB released where the only decent versions of the songs he had laying around.

Either this is an elaborate lie and a great marketing tactic (cuz supposedly, hes going to “re-record” this project) or he did lose them and is an idiot for leaving liquids lying about his studio.

  14. That’s a very fair point and I’ll be honest listening to Wiz whilst sober seems like a chore now but whilst intoxicated, it really is some shit to zone out to. If you are interested enough in hearing something by Wiz that might impress you somewhat, check out “Pittsburgh Sound”
Wiz never used to sing/rap with this melodic shit he doing now, he switched it up in the last 2-3 years.

    My wife is Italian.

I say that to say this: I’ve noticed that a number of commenters and bloggers are very principled individuals. It is out of respect for their principles that I feel the need to divulge this info. As of late, I’ve been conversing more than usual with allot of youse. I’m not sure how this info effects your opinion of me, nor am I that concerned. I just don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression of me. If my wife being Italian causes some people to not want to associate with me as much, I understand and will not be offended in any way. Dealing with these issues in real life are infinitely more complicated than they every will be on an internet forum.

    That is all. Fire away.

  22. The Wale track was better than his previous stuff.
