Are Viacom right to ban Game: Red Nation?

Viacom allegedly banned Game’s latest video, Red Nation.

Now it’s possible the video was purposely banned to create publicity, for example Kanye West’s cover for My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy.  Let’s be honest here. Nicki is in more demand than Wayne and if Interscope really thought Game was in high demand, they’d have given his album a fixed release date.

However, it seems like a strange decision to me, mainly because Viacom has had no problem with content that promotes organized crime and gang activity, as well as other deviant social issues.

Game is 31 years old. Lil Wayne is 28 and resides in a $14 million home, in an exclusive gated community of Florida. Wayne is the probable heir to a $400 million business.I find it hard to believe that these  2 rappers are on the streets, putting in work for their sets in between studio, stage, interviews etc.

There have been several high-ranking gang members who have questioned the authenticity of rappers claiming gangs.

Many rappers were never initiated into gangs and some have even been victims of racketeering by gangs, judging by recent reports.

Granted, rappers claim they aren’t role models but we should at least hold them responsible to portraying reality.

“be about that life” (c) GBM Comments Section

Maybe, I’m wrong and Game unintentionally got himself censored (or intentionally, I don’t know his stance on politics) with pro Communist propaganda such as:

Russia got a red flag U.S. got red stripes

Che Guevara of the New Era test me

Throwback Post: Mr. Bigg’s Trial Time

Three Things I Think (Special Edition): Mr. Bigg- Trial Time

My undergraduate mentor, who is currently working as a County public defense lawyer in Macon, Georgia, would often send me and some of our mutual friends an e-mail of various trials and defendants he had to defend, beginning from his time in working Public Defense in Albany til now. Some of these stories-

Eminem & Royce Da 5’9″ – Fastlane

Honestly, when news leaked a few days ago that these two are planning to drop an EP on June 14 (Bad Meets Evil), I was less than excited. I’m a fan of both rappers, but I’ve soured on collaborations a bit (too many of em these days) and this shit would have been a better idea in 2003.

Throwback Post: HOOD CLASSICS, Vol. 83…

I don’t know where you’re from, but around my neck of the woods people consider “Belly” a certified classic movie.

Actually, that’s false.  What I meant to write was that I question your life choices and common sense if you don’t regard Belly to be a wonderful movie.

I mean, what’s not to love about the movie? Besides the plot? And the acting? And the dialogue? If we held plot, dialogue and acting against all movies, then there’d be no good movies.  FACT.  Real connoisseurs know that you can only truly judge the awesomeness of a film by the number of yuks and irrelevant amusing tangents in the film.  Belly is a fucking winner.

In lieu of a proper defense of this honorable hood classic, I’ll list all the reasons to watch Belly again.  Besides the plot and acting of course.

Roc Marciano Can’t Collab With Crabs

Written by Abortatron, co-written by HL

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or have been deprived of an internet connection (which is really the same thing, isn’t it?) then you know by now that ‘Marcberg’ was one of the most celebrated releases of last year. With word getting around that Marciano is working on a follow up full-length project, my comrade HL and I decided it would be a good idea to make a few suggestions regarding who should appear on the upcoming LP. If you’re reading this, Roc – take notes. (more…)

G-Unit’s Secret Weapon- Producer/Engineer Doe Pesci

Point blank period– Doe Pesci is easily one of the DOPEST producers currently in the game right now. I’ve said many times that his production style is where New York needs to be heading- FACT. His melodies, his drums (so underrated), Piano stabs,, and a dedication to ensuring every song has a memorable basslines are the natural extension of the legacy Havoc, LES, and Large Pro left behind. FACT.

Lil’ B Is Gay

Now all the haters can say they told you so.

Some call it a genius marketing strategy, others call it career suicide. I’m not quite sure what to call it myself, but it seems as if Lil’ B is serious about naming an upcoming project, “I’m Gay” and announced the title during a performance at this year’s Coachella music festival. This isn’t really anything new from Lil’ B. He’s called himself a pretty bitch and threatened to anally rape Kanye West, so should we really be surprised by these kinda shock tactics?

I fucks with some of Lil’ B’s music (I’m God, Wonton Soup & Pretty Boy immediately jump to mind) and I’ve been known to cook on occasion (I do a mean Farmer) but I think he’s really pushing it with this one. From 100 bitches on your dick to I’m Gay?

I’m at once fascinated yet dismissive of Lil’ B at the same time just because of these kinda flagrant ploys for attention. It’s entertaining as hell and I’m curious to see how the notoriously homophobic Hip-Hop nation reacts but let’s be all the way honest, you can’t expect anyone to take this kid or his music seriously when he does shit like this.

Smarten up, Brandon.
